BrightKey's Assessment

Nexus International School (Singapore) is a private, co-educational, for-profit international school operating as part of Taylor's Schools Group. The Nexus brand was established by Taylor's in 2007 in Putrajaya, Malaysia; the Singapore school originated in 2011 when Taylor's acquired and rebranded the existing Excelsior International School. It is a day school (no boarding) at 1 Aljunied Walk, Singapore 387293.

The school delivers a full IB continuum: the PYP (ages 5–12), MYP (years 7–9) and DP (ages 17–18), with Cambridge IGCSE offered in years 10–11 as the route into the DP. Early Years provision begins at age 3, giving a 3–18 span. English is the language of instruction.

In January 2020 the school relocated from its earlier Ulu Pandan site to a purpose-built campus at Aljunied, described as designed with teacher input for open-plan, collaborative learning, in a central location near two MRT lines. The school reports a diverse community of 60+ nationalities, that 44% of students are bilingual, and that 43% of teachers hold a master's degree, alongside 115+ co-curricular activities.

Nexus is CIS-accredited (re-accredited 22 June 2022 per secondary sources), an authorised IB World School (PYP, MYP, DP), and registered with Singapore's CPE (PEI Reg. No. 201009668C). WASC accreditation appears in secondary references but was not confirmed on the official pages reviewed.

Why These Ratings?

Inspection & AccreditationA Excellent

Full IB continuum (PYP/MYP/DP), CIS-accredited (re-accredited 2022) and CPE/EduTrust-registered. No public inspectorate verdict exists, so the tier reflects accreditation depth; WASC is secondary-source-only and not weighted.

Strengths & Trade-offs

Strengths

  • Full IB continuum (PYP → MYP → DP), an authorised IB World School across all three programmes
  • CIS-accredited (re-accredited 22 June 2022), providing independent quality assurance
  • Purpose-built Aljunied campus (opened Jan 2020), designed with teacher input, in a central MRT-accessible location
  • Strongly international community — 60+ nationalities and 44% of students bilingual (school-reported)
  • IGCSE bridge into the DP, giving a recognized externally-examined qualification at 16
  • Qualified faculty — 43% of teachers hold a master's degree (school-reported)

Trade-offs

  • For-profit ownership under Taylor's Schools Group
  • High fees typical of Singapore IB schools — annual tuition from ~SGD 33,600 plus non-refundable initial fees; full per-year schedule not publicly extractable
  • Enrollment size not publicly disclosed
  • No published academic results — no IB Diploma average or A-Level data found publicly
  • Founding/heritage narrative is muddled across sources (2007 brand vs 2011 Singapore acquisition), so historical positioning should be treated cautiously

Is It Right For You?

Best For

  • Families wanting an uninterrupted IB pathway (PYP through DP) in one school
  • Internationally mobile families valuing a multi-national, English-medium environment
  • Families who prioritise a modern, purpose-built campus with central Singapore access
  • Students suited to inquiry-based IB pedagogy with an IGCSE checkpoint at 16

Not Ideal For

  • Families seeking a non-profit / foundation-governed school rather than a commercial group
  • Budget-conscious families — premium fee levels with sizeable non-refundable upfront costs
  • Families wanting published, verifiable academic outcomes before enrolling
  • Those needing boarding — Nexus is a day school only
