BrightKey's Assessment
Institut International de Lancy is a long-established private day school in Grand-Lancy, Geneva, serving over 1,500 students of 90+ nationalities from age 3 to 19. It delivers a genuinely bilingual French/English model across three tracks and offers the IB Diploma alongside French (Baccalauréat) and British (Cambridge IGCSE) secondary pathways.
Why These Ratings?
Inspection & AccreditationA — Excellent
Capped at A: Switzerland has no single public inspectorate that publishes an Outstanding/Good graded band per international school, so no verbatim top graded band exists to justify an S. IIL is nonetheless an authorized IB World School (DP) and a Cambridge International School, both independently verifiable.
Strengths & Trade-offs
Strengths
- Authorized IB World School offering the IB Diploma (DP), with published fees confirming IB1/IB2 provision
- True bilingual French/English education from age 3, plus dedicated single-language British and French tracks
- Highly international community: 1,500+ students across 90+ nationalities
- Multiple secondary exit routes — IB Diploma, French Baccalauréat, and Cambridge (Checkpoint/IGCSE)
- Long institutional continuity: over 120 years of teaching experience, one campus covering ages 3–19
Trade-offs
- No single public graded inspection band published for Swiss international schools, limiting external quality verification
- Founding year and detailed exam-results data are not published on the official site
- Day school only — no boarding option for families needing residential provision

Curriculum
IIL runs three parallel tracks — British Bilingual, French Bilingual, and Bilingual French/English — from Early Years through Primary. At secondary, students follow an English curriculum (with Cambridge Checkpoint and IGCSE) or a French curriculum (leading to the French Baccalauréat), and can pursue the IB Diploma in the final two years (IB1/IB2). Distance-learning provision is also offered.
Fees
Full-day annual tuition for 2025/2026 ranges from CHF 16,870 (French Bilingual, 14e/13e) to CHF 30,390 (IB2/Year 13); mornings-only nursery tracks start around CHF 10,060. A non-refundable enrolment fee of CHF 1,000 applies, and examination and language-test fees (French Baccalauréat, IGCSE, Checkpoint, IB, DELF, IELTS) are billed separately.
Admissions
Enrolment is by fixed-term school contract. A CHF 1,000 non-refundable enrolment fee plus a CHF 2,000 advance payment on tuition are due on acceptance; re-enrolment carries a CHF 900 advance payment. Entrance examinations may be required.
Campus Life
Single campus at 24 avenue Eugène-Lancé, Grand-Lancy. The school runs an anti-bullying programme (KiVa), offers before/after-school care and extracurricular activities, and provides school transport (bus). Pedagogical outings and trips are part of school life, with overnight trips billed separately.
