BrightKey's Assessment

Stratford Hall is an independent, co-educational day school on Commercial Drive in Vancouver, founded in 2000. It is one of a small number of schools authorized for the full IB continuum — PYP (K–5), MYP (6–10) and DP (11–12) — layered over the British Columbia Ministry of Education curriculum. The school reports an 8:1 student-to-faculty ratio, a 100% university acceptance rate and an average IB Diploma score of 32.0. It is accredited by CAIS and ISABC and is a member of FISA and the BC Association of IB World Schools.

Why These Ratings?

Inspection & AccreditationA Excellent

Rated A. Stratford Hall holds independent-school accreditation through CAIS and ISABC and is a full IB World School authorized for all three IB programmes. Canada has provincial ministry oversight of curriculum but no single public inspectorate that publishes an Outstanding/Good-style graded band per school, so the tier is capped at A rather than S.

Strengths & Trade-offs

Strengths

  • Full IB continuum (PYP, MYP and DP) on one campus — continuity from Kindergarten to Grade 12 without a programme change.
  • Strong published academic outcomes: 100% university acceptance and an average IB Diploma score of 32.0.
  • Low 8:1 student-to-faculty ratio.
  • Dual accreditation (CAIS and ISABC) plus IB World School and FISA membership.

Trade-offs

  • No dedicated boarding — day school only, so it is not an option for families needing residential places.
  • The school does not publish a formal English-as-an-Additional-Language (EAL) programme, so support for students with limited English is not confirmed.
  • Total enrollment figures are not published on the school site.

Is It Right For You?

Best For

  • Families in Vancouver seeking an uninterrupted IB pathway from Kindergarten through the Diploma.
  • Students who thrive in inquiry-based learning and a small, close-knit environment.
  • Parents prioritizing a nationally accredited independent school with strong university placement.

Not Ideal For

  • Families needing boarding or residential care.
  • Students requiring an established, formally published EAL programme, which the school does not advertise.
  • Families seeking a British (Cambridge/A-Level) or American (AP) curriculum track.

Curriculum

Stratford Hall delivers the full IB continuum — PYP in Kindergarten to Grade 5, MYP in Grades 6 to 10, and the DP in Grades 11 and 12 — mapped onto the British Columbia Ministry of Education curriculum. French is introduced in the early years, with both French and Spanish offered from Grade 5 in preparation for MYP Language Acquisition.

Fees

Published 2026–27 tuition: CAD 30,670 for Kindergarten to Grade 10, CAD 33,440 for Grade 11 and CAD 34,450 for Grade 12. Additional one-time and annual fees apply: CAD 300 application (non-refundable), CAD 3,000 new-student registration, CAD 9,000 enrollment fee for a first child (CAD 6,000 second child, waived thereafter), and a CAD 10,000 annual international-student fee that includes medical insurance. A CAD 1,000 sibling discount applies per additional child. The school notes historical annual increases of 4%–6%. Fees are school-reported from the official site.

Admissions

Applications carry a CAD 300 non-refundable fee. Financial assistance is administered through Apple Financial Services (CAD 130 non-refundable application fee), opening in October with a November 30 deadline; admission decisions are made independently of financial-aid applications and aid must be reapplied for annually.
