Shen Wai International School (SWIS)

Shen Wai International School (深圳外国语学校国际部, SWIS) was founded in 2001 as a private, non-profit international school, historically the international section of the public Shenzhen Foreign Languages School (深圳外国语学校). The two are distinct entities — the public school serves Chinese-national students under the state curriculum; SWIS is the foreign-passport international school and is the subject of this profile.

SWIS runs the full IB continuum — all three programmes (Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma) are authorized — making it one of Shenzhen's complete PYP→DP pathways under a single roof. It is triple-accredited by the IB, the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and enrols roughly 1,200 students.

Eligibility follows the foreign-personnel-school model: it serves children of expatriate families plus residents and passport-holders of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Mainland-Chinese-passport-only children are not the target eligibility group. English is the primary medium of instruction.
