BrightKey's Assessment

Chadwick International is located in the Songdo International Business District of Yeonsu-gu, Incheon — part of the greater-Seoul capital region, roughly 40 km southwest of central Seoul (we group it under 'seoul' in our namespace, but it is physically in Songdo, Incheon, not in Seoul proper). The campus address is 45, Art center-daero 97 beon-gil, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. It is a coeducational, non-profit, non-denominational PK–12 day school.

The school was founded in 2010, established with a reported 150 billion won (~US$135 million) investment by the Incheon Metropolitan City government, and is run by the Roessler-Chadwick Foundation. It is named after — and is the sister school to — Chadwick School in Palos Verdes, California, with shared programming including outdoor/experiential education and reciprocal student visits.

Academically, Chadwick is a full IB continuum school. Wikipedia reports PYP, MYP, DP and CP authorisations; the official site states '4 IB Accredited Programs' and references the IB Diploma Programme and MYP Personal Project, corroborating the four-programme claim. The school is organised into Village School (Pre-K–Grade 5), Middle School (Grades 6–8) and Upper School (Grades 9–12). English is the language of instruction.

The school is large and purpose-built: ~500,000 sq ft of building space with two indoor gymnasiums (with rock-climbing wall), an athletic field, running track, five tennis courts, an indoor 25m pool, dance studio and weight room. The official site reports 1,461 students, an 8:1 student-faculty ratio, 51 nationalities and 115 international college destinations. South Korea has no public inspectorate, so the tier reflects accreditation depth (IB + WASC) — capped at A.

Why These Ratings?

Inspection & AccreditationA Excellent

Full IB continuum authorisation (PYP/MYP/DP/CP) corroborated by Wikipedia and the official site, plus a WASC accreditation reference on the official site (not independently re-verified this session). South Korea has no public inspectorate, so the tier reflects accreditation depth — A.

Strengths & Trade-offs

Strengths

  • Full IB continuum (PYP, MYP, DP — and CP, which is rare) across all divisions
  • Sister-school relationship to Chadwick School California, including shared outdoor/experiential education
  • Large purpose-built campus with extensive athletic and arts facilities (two gyms, 25m pool, climbing wall, track, tennis)
  • Strong reported diversity — 51 nationalities, 115 international college destinations
  • Favourable 8:1 student-faculty ratio (school-reported)
  • Dual accreditation signals — IB plus a WASC reference on the official site

Trade-offs

  • No public inspectorate in South Korea — quality data is accreditation-depth only; tier capped at A
  • High fees — KRW ~51.6M–60.2M/year (2025/26), among the most expensive in the region
  • CIS accreditation not confirmed — official site cites WASC and IB only
  • No published IB average score found in public sources
  • EAL/ESL support not documented publicly
  • Songdo/Incheon location is ~40 km from central Seoul — a commute/relocation consideration
