Campus and city

West Lafayette is a quintessential college town where Purdue IS the town. Boilermakers football at Ross-Ade Stadium and basketball at Mackey Arena anchor the social calendar, with the Boilermaker Special train mascot leading game-day traditions. The Purdue Bell Tower and Engineering Fountain serve as iconic gathering spots. Greek life is substantial at roughly 20 percent of undergraduates across 80+ chapters. Over 1,000 student organizations range from Purdue Grand Prix go-kart racing to the All-American Marching Band. The 51,000-student campus is large but walkable with free bus service. Indianapolis is one hour south for concerts, professional sports, and airport access. Winters are cold with temperatures regularly below freezing from December through February, but fall football season and spring on the Memorial Mall are vibrant. Old Gold and Black pride runs deep in this tight-knit Boilermaker community.
