How admission to German Swiss International School works, step by step.

Applications are accepted year-round with no fixed deadlines; entry is waitlist-driven, so apply well ahead. The process: apply through the online portal, receive an acknowledgement within one to two business days, join the waitlist for the year group, sit an entrance assessment if one is offered (assessment is not guaranteed — invitations follow priority order), then finalise a debenture or capital levy to secure the place. Named principal intake points are Kindergarten (age 3) and Grade 5 (age 10); Year 7 entry is possible but depends on vacancies rather than being a designated intake. The Years 7–10 entrance assessment is a computer-based CAT4 plus written English and Mathematics (no interview; interviews apply only at Year 12), and the English International Stream expects English fluency equal to a native speaker of the same age. Required: a recommendation form from the current school (Years 3–6 and Year 12), transcripts (Year 12), and proof of residency (HK ID or valid visa) once a place is offered. Admissions priority runs: German, Swiss and Austrian passport holders and Infrastructure Debenture holders first, then siblings of current students, staff children, alumni children, vacant-debenture holders, and finally application date. The child must reach the year-group age by 31 August. The English stream requires no German; the German stream accepts non-German speakers via its CLIPPY and Fast Track integration programmes.
