Application strategy
USC offers Early Action (non-binding, November 1 deadline) and Regular Decision (January 15 deadline). The middle 50 percent SAT range is 1450-1540 and ACT is 33-35. Applications use the Common App plus a USC-specific supplement with short-answer questions about community contribution and academic interests. The School of Cinematic Arts requires a separate portfolio submission and interview for most programs. Marshall and Viterbi have supplemental essays emphasizing leadership and innovation. International applicants need TOEFL 100-plus or IELTS 7.0-plus. Alumni interviews are offered but not required. USC meets demonstrated financial need for admitted students and offers merit scholarships including the prestigious Trustee and Presidential awards. International students on F-1 visas qualify for 12 months OPT with STEM-designated programs eligible for 36-month extensions. Apply to specific schools within USC as internal transfer is competitive.
