Campus and city
Rotterdam is a vibrant, multicultural port city with 180+ nationalities and a distinctly modern character shaped by post-war reconstruction. The main Woudestein campus features contemporary architecture including the Erasmus Pavilion student hub, Polak Building, and extensive sports facilities through Erasmus Sport. Student life centers around 200+ associations (study, sport, cultural, and international) with active Greek-style student societies (corps). The Coolsingel boulevard, Markthal food hall, and Witte de Withstraat cultural quarter provide urban entertainment. Amsterdam is 40 minutes by direct Intercity train, The Hague 20 minutes, and Schiphol Airport under 30 minutes by high-speed rail. Monthly OV-chipkaart student transport passes provide free off-peak travel nationwide. Housing is the main challenge: EUR reserves approximately 1,200 rooms covering only 25 percent of incoming international students, making early application to SSH and private providers essential.
