🇮🇱 Universities in Israel

3 universities evaluated for international families.

Israel's research universities — led by Tel Aviv University, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Technion — are the academic engine of the 'Startup Nation'. Tel Aviv University in particular is a genuine global top-10 producer of venture-backed startup founders (PitchBook ranked it #7 worldwide, #1 outside the US), with deep strength in computer science, life sciences and medicine, and dense ties to the country's tech and venture-capital ecosystem. The honest caveats: most undergraduate teaching is Hebrew-medium (though English-taught international programs are growing), the regional security situation periodically disrupts the calendar and study-abroad flows, Tel Aviv is among the world's most expensive cities, and overall world rankings sit outside the top 100 despite the standout entrepreneurial strength. Best for tech-and-entrepreneurship-focused students wanting to plug into the world's leading startup ecosystem outside the US.

Post-Study Work

Student visa (A/2); post-study work limited for non-citizens, though the tech sector recruits internationally

Application System

International English-taught programs (e.g. Tel Aviv University's Lowy International School) admit via IB/A-Level/AP + transcripts; most domestic undergrad tracks are Hebrew-medium with psychometric exam

Avg. International Fees

International English-taught programs ~USD 10,000–20,000/year; Hebrew-track resident tuition much lower (~USD 3,000–4,000/year equivalent)
